Melanie Winter of the group Friends of the Los Angeles River, explains how most Angelenos don't even know that a major river runs through their city.

"On the wall of my office, I have a picture of Los Angeles taken from space," she said. "A lot of people look at the river in that picture and ask 'Is that the 405?' It's amazing."
