DEADLINE: The Uproot Project's Journey of a Story Exhibit
The Uproot Project is excited to host the fourth annual Journey of a Story exhibit, a celebration of why diverse voices are essential to environmental reporting. This year’s Journey of a Story will be part of a multi-day event series taking place in Washington, DC, from October 20–23, 2025, with a special focus on trust in the media.
Throughout the series, we will examine how environmental journalists of color establish trust in communities that have been long ignored, misrepresented, or politicized in mainstream coverage. Our 2025 theme, Climate, Politics, and Trust in the Media, will spotlight innovative, community-driven responses to climate challenges. Through solutions journalism, we will share stories of resilience, adaptation, and sustainable practices that are transforming local landscapes. The series will also highlight the vital role that journalists of color play in bringing climate solutions from underrepresented communities to the forefront.
We are currently looking for powerful stories and passionate journalists to feature in the gallery exhibit on Thursday, October 23. If you have a story to tell, we’d love to hear from you. Please complete this form to share your idea. Journalists selected to participate will receive a $300 honorarium in appreciation for their work.
Deadline: August 25, 2025 @ 5 p.m. EST
