Lodging
The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center is SEJ's headquarters hotel for the 2008 annual conference. It will be the center of all activities, where conference sessions, meals, and variety of events will take place. Just wake up, get up — and take the elevator to sessions. Members: SEJ can help match you with a roommate to split lodging costs in half. Suggestion: book your room, then look for a roommate. If you find a roommate who has already booked a room, one of you can cancel your reservation. (Reservations can be cancelled up to 24 hours before arrival.)
NOTE: As of August 19, 2008, the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center is fully booked (there is a waiting list available). Please see the alternate options below. SEJ's conference hotels each have a courtesy shuttle to and from the Roanoke Regional Airport. One shuttle seats 11, but the airport is within five miles so wait time should not be too long. Check with your hotel for details.

The historic Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center is situated alongside downtown Roanoke in the heart of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, just minutes from Roanoke Regional Airport.
Below you will find information about overflow hotels.
They range in price from $99 to $189. The Holiday Inn Express is only a half mile from the Hotel Roanoke where events will take place and an easy walk for most. SEJ will provide shuttle service for guests staying at the overflow hotels to make sure everyone gets to sessions. Remember, SEJ members can use this interactive message board to find a roommate and share costs.

Amtrak services can bring folks from all over the country to Lynchburg, Virginia, just an hour away from Roanoke. Transfers from Amtrak to Greyhound Bus are conveniently located at the same location in Lynchburg. Greyhound will bring you safely to Roanoke in just one hour. BY BUS:
Sit back and let Greyhound bring you right into downtown Roanoke, just a few blocks from Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. All Greyhound buses are equipped with air conditioning, an on-board restroom, reclining seats with headrests, footrests and tinted windows.
